Our first solo project in Letterpress was to crate calling cards for a peer. We were paired up based on our enneagram numbers. We were told to create a calling card that represented the person's enneagram number. I was a 5, the investigator. My partner, Colin, was a 7, the enthusiast.
I knew I wanted to do some kind of blind deboss, so I fooled around with a pattern of plus signs; to represent his upbeat personality. I ordered lots of paper samples from Crane Paper up in Massachusetts, so I could print on really nice cotton paper. I'm really happy with how they came out, and so was Colin.

For our second assignment, we had to design postcards that represented something about Baltimore. I had several ideas, but ultimately decided to do two different designs. The first was highlighting the Domino Sugar plant in the Locust Point neighborhood which opening in 1922.
My second postcard is about saccharin being discovered at Johns Hopkins University in 1878. I wanted to represent the dichotomy of Baltimore. How people either love or hate it. I hope I achieved this; we have crit next Monday for the postcards.
